CFA Society Cincinnati Volunteering

CFA Society Cincinnati has many volunteer opportunities through various committees.  See something that interests you? Contact us and we will fill you in on how you can become involved!

Member Value

Members of this committee are responsible for planning networking events for members, helping to welcome new members to the Society, and making recommendations on programs and initiatives that will help the Society meet the needs of its members and member firms.

Programming

Members of this committee are responsible for making recommendations on topics and speakers for our monthly events and other relevant educational content for our members.  Interested in joining this committee or have a connection to a speaker you feel would be of interest? Get in touch and let us know!

Education

Members of this committee are responsible for helping to support and recognize our CFA Program Candidates by organizing events such as the Candidate Q&A session and our Candidate recognition events.  Members of this committee also liaison with faculty members at local universities to help us connect with students with an interest in a career in investment management and to educate them about the opportunities in the industry and the value of the CFA Charter.

Women in Investment Management Collaborative (Cincinnati WiIM)

The mission of Cincinnati WiIM is to develop and support a network of female professionals working in the investment management industry in our region.  Members of this committee will help plan programs and events that are beneficial to the career and personal advancement of our members, while also creating space for them to socialize, to share knowledge and experience, and to celebrate their accomplishments.   Members will also help drive our effort to educate young women about careers in the investment management industry at the high school and collegiate level to help broaden the talent pipeline in our region.

Mentorship Committee

The purpose of the Mentorship Committee is to help young professionals connect with more experienced members of our organization and to offer a framework that enables professional growth, builds knowledge, expands networks, and opens avenues to acquiring career and industry insights all within an atmosphere of confidentiality, trust, and respect.  Members of this committee will help drive the recruitment and matching process that generally occurs in mid to late October and will help plan social events that give mentor/mentee pairs additional opportunities to interact and connect with others.

Research Challenge Committee

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis and professional ethics.  Each student will be tested on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation skills; gaining real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst.  In collaboration with CFA Society Columbus, committee members are responsible for recruiting university participants in their region, helping to identify the target company being researched, and for recruiting mentors, graders, and judges.
